Denton Suspended For Six Weeks

Leinster lock Tom Denton appeared before an independent RaboDirect PRO12 disciplindary committee last night, having been cited for an incident during the province’s win over the Cardiff Blues on Friday, February 8.

Tom Denton’s citing was for a dangerous tackle under law 10.4(j) during the recent match between the Cardiff Blues and Leinster at Cardiff Arms Park.

The independent disciplinary committee was chaired by Pam Woodman of Scotland and also included Simon Thomas (Wales) and Pat Barriscale (Ireland).

The committee, having considered all matters, upheld the citing. They considered the low entry point of four weeks to be appropriate.

However, as there were aggravating factors, including the need for a deterrent for this type of offence and the player’s recent disciplinary record, this was increased by a further two weeks, to six weeks.

The player is suspended from all rugby until midnight on Sunday, March 24, 2013, and has the right of appeal.
