Miller Receives ‘Supreme Sports Star’ Award From UCC

Alison Miller was one of ten rising young sports stars honoured by UCC this week. Her exploits forthe Ireland Women’s Team in winning the Grand Slam and her involvement with the Sevens team also earned her the ‘Supreme Sports Star’ award.

The annual UCC Sports awards honours students from UCC sports clubs who have made an outstanding contribution to their sport over the year.

Miller was the top try scorer as Ireland won their first ever Women’s 6 Nations title and the Grand Slam. Her hat-trick of tries against England was a particular highlight of the season.

Alison barely had time to celebrate the success of the Grand Slam before she flew off to Hong Kong and China with the Women’s Sevens team helping them to win silverware in both competitions.

Ireland have qualified for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow in June and will continue their preparations at the London Sevens in May.

Irish Olympian Sonia O’Sullivan was guest of honour at the awards and with the Ireland Women targetting Rio in 2016, Alison and her team mates could also be sporting Olympic medals one day.
