Foley And Costello Extend Munster Contracts

Anthony Foley has signed a contract extension to remain as Munster forwards coach for next season, the province have confirmed.

In addition, Munster skills coach and ‘A’ team coach Ian Costello has also agreed terms for next season. The news was announced at Thursday’s final media briefing in the University of Limerick.

Anthony Foley will be involved with the Ireland summer tour squad due to travel to North America on June 1, while Costello will go in the other direction the following day with the Emerging Ireland squad to Georgia.

Meanwhile, a Munster Development side under the tutelage of elite player development officer Colm McMahon are taking part in the Glasgow City Sevens event this Saturday.

Sixteen teams are taking part in the competition with Munster up against the home venue side Cartha Queens Park RFC in the opening round.

McMahon, a former Ireland Sevens player himself, also brought a team to the tournament last year and found the exercise extremely beneficial.

The youthful Development side most recently played at the Kinsale Sevens tournament where they recorded one victory out of three, in a tough pool that included two senior and experienced touring Sevens sides.
