Injury Concerns For Leinster Ahead Of PRO12 Decider
The Leinster squad trained in UCD today ahead of Saturday’s RaboDirect PRO12 final against Ulster at the RDS (kick-off 4.45pm), with several injury concerns for the management to contend with arising from the Amlin Challenge Cup final victory.
Sean O’Brien (bruised knee) and Fergus McFadden (neck) are injury concerns for Leinster as they prepare for the final game of the season.
Ireland hooker Richardt Strauss (shoulder) was replaced late on against Stade Francais having previously come on for Sean Cronin, who incidentally scored his second successive try in European finals, but the medical team are hopeful that he will be available.
Aside from the usual bumps and bruises, the province expect to be in a position to call on Brian O’Driscoll (back) for Saturday’s league decider, while a number of players who were rested after a rigorous last few weeks – including the likes of flanker Kevin McLaughlin – could also come back into the frame.
Isa Nacewa and Jonathan Sexton will play their final games for Leinster ahead of their summer departures. Out-half Sexton passed the 1,000 point milestone following his 14-point haul against Stade Francais.
Last Friday’s Challenge Cup final also saw David Kearney successfully return following his five-week absence.
It was a successful weekend for Leinster on several fronts with the ‘A’ team securing a last-gasp victory in Newcastle to secure the province’s inaugural British & Irish Cup title.
