Leinster Gear Up For Glasgow Trip

The Leinster squad trained in UCD today ahead of Friday night’s RaboDirect PRO12 clash with Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun Stadium (kick-off 7.35pm).

The Leinster management hope to have a number of players available ahead of the trip to Glasgow, with the returning British & Irish Lions players set to come into the frame over the next couple of weeks.

The medical team are confident that Luke Fitzgerald – a precautionary late withdrawal on Saturday due to a tight groin – should be involved against Glasgow.

Speaking about Fitzgerald’s fitness and Fergus McFadden who has a hamstrain strain, scrum coach Greg Feek said: “Ferg’s not too far away, while Luke is probably closer. We#ll see how Luke goes this week.

“He’s not looking too bad. Look, with the history, I suppose we’re just monitoring him. We’ve got really good medicals and rehab (facilities) here. With the protocols in place, we#ve just got to make sure he#s ready and firing to go.”

Winger Darren Hudson suffered a hamstring injury during the drawn game against the Ospreys last Saturday night and will not play this week.

Kevin McLaughlin made his first appearance of the season alongside the likes of fellow Ireland internationals Ian Madigan and Richardt Strauss.

Last Saturday’s match marked Jack McGrath’s 40th in Leinster colours, while both McFadden and McLaughlin have now made 96 appearances for their home province. Mike Ross’ next outing will be his 90th for Leinster.

Ticket sales for Leinster’s next home PRO12 game at the RDS against the Cardiff Blues on Friday week (September 27) have passed the 13,500 mark. Tickets are on sale now from www.leinsterrugby.ie.
