Irish rugby fans will be able to watch the Ireland Under-20s aim for a third place finish at the IRB Junior World Championship when TG4 broadcast Friday’s play-off against New Zealand live (kick-off 5.05pm local time/6.05am Irish time).
The Irish language station have served up some thrilling Under-20 rugby action this month, providing live coverage of the Ireland U-20s’ three pool matches as well as last Sunday’s semi-final showdown with England.
Whatever the result against the Baby Blacks, Mike Ruddock’s youngsters will claim Ireland’s best ever finish at a Junior World Championship – either third or fourth position.
TG4’s line-up for Friday morning includes live coverage from Eden Park of the 3rd/4th place play-off and the Championship final (England v South Africa):
5.55am – ‘Rugbai Beo’ coverage begins on TG4
6.05am – New Zealand U-20s v Ireland U-20s live from Eden Park, Auckland
8.35am – England U-20s v South Africa U-20s live from Eden Park, Auckland
8.30pm – An hour-long highlights programme covering both matches
Commentary will be provided by Aonghus Ó hEochaidh and Eamonn Molloy, and both matches will be shown also on the TG4 Player (only available in Ireland).
