Video Highlights: Ireland Women’s Win Over New Zealand

The Ireland Women’s squad made history when they overcame reigning Women’s Rugby World Cup champions New Zealand 17-14 in Marcoussis to take control of Pool B and move closer to booking their place in the semi-finals.

The girls in green became the first Irish team – male or female – to win an international 15-a-side match against a New Zealand team, ending the Black Ferns’ 20-match unbeaten World Cup run in the process (their last defeat was back at the 1991 tournament).

Full-back Niamh Briggs took her tally for the 2014 competition to 25 points by nailing the match-winning penalty with 10 minutes to go. She had earlier converted tries from Heather O’Brien and Alison Miller, playing a key role in creating Miller’s score on the hour mark.
