Video Highlights: Ireland Women’s Victory Over Kazakhstan

Ireland, England and hosts France finished top of their respective pools and will be joined in the semi-finals of the Women’s Rugby World Cup by Canada.

Philip Doyle’s Ireland side were the first to confirm their place in the semi-finals with a 40-5 victory over Kazakhstan in Saturday’s opening match.

That result guarantees the girls in green their best ever World Cup finish, but Fiona Coghlan and her team-mates are hungry for more and will be out to avenge their Six Nations defeat at Twickenham when they meet England in Wednesday’s semi-finals (kick-off 6pm local time/5pm Irish time).

The Ireland-England clash at Stade Jean Bouin will be broadcast live on TG4 and Sky Sports 4, with Michael Corcoran and former Ireland international Fiona Steed providing commentary on RTÉ 2fm.

The Pool A decider between England and Canada ended in a 13-13 draw, a result which meant that four-time defending champions New Zealand could not reach the semi-finals – the first time the Black Ferns have failed to reach the last-four in WRWC history.

Canada, who finished behind England on points differential, had to wait a few hours for the outcome of France’s Pool C decider with Australia to be confirmed as the best runners-up, but les Bleues’ 17-3 win means the two sides will face off in the other semi-final on Wednesday.
