TG4 Confirm Broadcast Details For WRWC Semi-Finals

TG4 have confirmed their schedule for live coverage of Ireland’s historic Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-final against England in Paris on Wednesday (kick-off 6pm local time/5pm Irish time).

TG4’s ‘Rugbaí Beo’ coverage begins at 4.30pm and will be presented by Gráinne McElwain with studio analysis and commentary by former Ireland scrum half Louise Beamish, John Broderick, Aonghus Ó hEochaidh and Eoghan Ó Neachtain. Louise is one of Ireland’s most experienced international players with over 40 caps to her name.

TG4’s live coverage from Stade Jean Bouin in Paris will also include coverage of the second semi-final between hosts France and Canada (kick-off 8.45pm local time/7.45pm Irish time).

After wins over the USA, New Zealand and Kazakhstan, Ireland have qualified for the Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-finals for the first time ever.

The bonus point victory against Kazakhstan guaranteed the girls in green their best ever World Cup finish, coming only days after defeating New Zealand in a historic and first ever 17-14 win by a senior Irish international rugby team over an All Black side.

Ireland will now be out to avenge their Six Nations defeat at Twickenham when they meet regular rivals England on Wednesday evening.

TG4 will also provide live and exclusive coverage on free-to-view TV of the Women’s Rugby World Cup final next Sunday afternoon (kick-off 6.45pm local time/5.45pm Irish time).

TG4’s Pádhraic Ó Ciardha said: “We have always had a dual commitment to presenting top quality TV content in Irish and to showcasing Irish Women’s sport (as with Ladies Gaelic football).

“Accordingly, TG4 was delighted to acquire the free-to-view TV rights to the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014 a few months ago.

“Our coverage of Ireland’s pool matches to date (especially the extraordinary first ever win over New Zealand) has been widely praised. We are all rooting for ‘Mná na hÉireann’ and TG4 will broadcast their remaining games in this World Cup.”
