Mixed Injury News For Leinster

The Leinster squad trained in UCD yesterday ahead of Sunday’s European Champions Cup clash with Harlequins at the Stoop (kick-off 3.15pm).

There was mixed news on the injury front ahead of Leinster’s trip to ‘Quins. Having sat out Monday’s pitch session, backs Rob Kearney, Luke Fitzgerald, Ian Madigan and Fergus McFadden all took part in a full day of training.

The quartet are expected to be available for selection this weekend. Fitzgerald (groin) is the most sensitive of the issues, with his progress monitored on a daily basis.

There was also further good news with locks Mike McCarthy and Tom Denton returning to full training. Denton picked up a knock to his calf, not to his head as had been reported in some quarters.

However, fellow second row Kane Douglas has not taken any part in training as he continues to be monitored on a daily basis through the return-to-play protocols. Hooker Richardt Strauss, likewise, has not taken a full part in training as he recovers from a slight hamstring strain.
