As the redevelopment of Irish Independent Park draws closer to completion, do not miss your chance to experience the upgraded facility for the first time as the Cork venue plays host to Ireland Wolfhounds v England Saxons on Friday, January 30 (kick-off 7.45pm).
In January of last year a total of seven Munster players helped Ireland Wolfhounds to a 14-8 victory over England Saxons at Kingsholm. Those involved were Dave Kilcoyne, Stephen Archer, Tommy O’Donnell, Robin Copeland, Ian Keatley, Simon Zebo and Felix Jones.
Twelve months on, and with many of those representatives progressing to the senior national side, Ireland Wolfhounds will again field a mixture of experience and emerging talent on the international scene in what is sure to be a keenly contested battle as Saxons look to exact revenge for last year’s home defeat.
Those heading to the game will get a first glimpse of the €;3.2m redevelopment project undertaken by Munster Rugby which is due for completion in the coming weeks.
The overall capacity of Irish Independent Park (formerly Musgrave Park) has increased to 9,500 through the construction of a new West Stand seating 3,500 and comes complete with new catering, shop and function facilities. With financial support from the Munster Rugby Supporters Club, the East Terrace has also been covered from end-line to end-line.
