The Aviva Mini Rugby Festival is heading to Portlaoise this month and it promises to be another great day for the future stars of Irish rugby.
Portlaoise RFC will play host to hundreds of boys and girls from all over Ireland in the second Aviva Mini Rugby Festival of the season on Saturday, April 11.
Building on the success of first festival in Ashbourne RFC last October, the Portlaoise day will encompass twenty five teams from all four provinces.
The success of the Ireland Women’s team can be seen in the growth of girls rugby in Ireland in recent years and there will be a dedicated girls Under-12s group with five clubs taking part in Portlaoise.
Along with getting to play games against sides from all over the country, there will also be skills session with an Irish rugby legend, who will be giving the Aviva Minis some hints and tips on how to improve their game.
The Aviva Mini Rugby Festival gives teams a chance to develop their skills against teams from all over Ireland, learning new ways to play. It also gives clubs the opportunity to meet up and learn from each other.
Each of the competitors on the day will receive a certificate signed by Paul O’Connell, Rory Best and Jamie Heaslip along with a branded IRFU and Aviva water bottle.
The teams will play against each other in a non-competitive and fun environment, and from taking part in this tournament they will be in with an opportunity to take part in the All-Ireland Festival which will take place at the Aviva Stadium in May.
