Connacht Rugby have announced today that they will host two pre-season fixtures in preparation for the 2015/16 season.
First up, Pat Lam’s men will welcome Top 14 side FC Grenoble to the Sportsground on Friday, August 7 (kick-off time to be confirmed).
It has been ten years since Grenoble last played in Galway when the French side were drawn in the same Amlin Challenge Cup pool. Connacht were 19-3 winners that day in January 2005 and Michael Swift got over for one of the two tries scored.
Bernard Jackman’s current Grenoble side have enjoyed a successful season in the Top 14 with impressive victories over powerhouses Racing Metro, Stade Francais and Toulouse. Former Connacht lock and captain Andrew Farley, who played six seasons with the province, is currently team manager with the French club.
On Friday, August 21, the Connacht supporters will have the chance to witness an additional mouth-watering interprovincial clash when nearest rivals Munster come to town. With the New Year’s Day victory still fresh in the memory and Ireland hopefuls going head-to-head, this fixture is sure to attract plenty of interest.
Remember, the best way to secure your place at these fixtures and all season is to get your Connacht Rugby Season Ticket now. The renewal period for current Season Ticket holders is open until next Monday (April 27).
