Ballina Celebrate Achievements Of Their Underage Players

A great night of celebration for the Youths section of Ballina RFC was held in their main sponsor’s hotel, the Diamond Coast, Enniscrone.

There were over 350 people in attendance from across the region to celebrate a great season of youth rugby in both Ballina RFC and the local schools.

In all, three Ballina boys teams were awarded medals for winning their respective age-grade Connacht Plate competitions at Under-14, Under-17 and Under-18 levels. The U-15 boys and the U-18 girls received winning medals for their Connacht Cup competitions, while their captains received the Plates and Cups on their behalf.

The U-15 girls and U-16 boys received runners-up medals for their Connacht Cup endeavours. As if this was not enough silverware on display, the Under-18 Senior Schools Development League Cup and the U-18 Senior Schools Sevens Plate were also on display after being won by St. Muredach’s, Ballina.

Not to be outdone, St. Mary’s, Ballina also brought along the U-18 Schools Cup and U-18 Sevens Cup they won during the year.

Gerry O’Donnell from Ballina RFC made presentations to ten Secondary schools in the North Mayo and West Sligo area who worked in partnership with the club this year. To wrap up the night, Ballina sisters Mairead and Kayleigh Hopkins brought along their Ireland Under-18 Sevens Caps which they received earlier in the year from the IRFU.
