Schmidt Helps Launch IRFU Charitable Trust’s Corporate Patron Scheme

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt was on hand at the Aviva Stadium on Friday to lend his support to the IRFU Charitable Trust who announced details of a new Corporate Patron membership scheme.

The IRFU Charitable Trust Corporate Patron Scheme is open to any small or large businesses based in Ireland with an interest in rugby. The programme will provide businesses with unique networking opportunities and provide a platform for companies to effectively activate their CSR programmes.

The IRFU Charitable Trust assists severely injured rugby players in their everyday lives through medical, nursing and caring expenses, education and training and the provision of specialised equipment and home alterations.

John Callaghan, Chairman of the IRFU Charitable Trust, commented: “This new initiative will enable corporate Ireland to partner with and benefit from a well-established network of individuals who support the work of the Charitable Trust. Corporate Patrons will benefit from access to a host of events which will facilitate a platform for networking and activating their own CSR initiatives.

“The IRFU Charitable Trust has a unique relationship with rugby in Ireland and as such our events our supported by both past and current international players which adds significant appeal to our fundraising events.”

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt added: “Corporate philanthropy plays a very important role in sport and the work done by the Charitable Trust deserves and requires corporate Ireland’s support. I have attended a number of their events and the opportunity for companies to interact with and support these events will greatly assist in the important work of the Trust.”

Any interested businesses should contact Linda Black of the Charitable Trust – telephone (01) 6473866 or email: linda.black@irfu.ie.

The IRFU Charitable Trust was formed in 1978 to assist severely injured rugby players. There are currently 33 seriously injured players registered with the Charitable Trust in Ireland.
