Young Munster Switch On New Floodlights For Local Derby

Last Friday night Young Munster RFC officially switched on their new floodlights ahead of the local derby meeting against Garryowen in Ulster Bank League Division 1A.

The symbolic switching on at Tom Clifford Park was performed by the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan TD. He was accompanied by Mayor of Limerick Jerry O’Dea, Councillor Maria Byrne and TD Kieran O’Donnell.

Members of the Young Munster committee along with Garryowen President John Scanlon and Garryowen Secretary Geraldine Morrissey also joined the Minister for the official switching on of the new floodlights.

After the symbolic ceremony, the guests and dignitaries enjoyed the pre-match meal, along with another 150 members and supporters.

Unfortunately for the home supporters and new Young Munster head coach Anthony Mathison, the Cookies missed out on a first league win of the season when Garryowen fought back for a share of the spoils – 16-16.
