France 9 Ireland 24 – #RWC2015 Facts & Figures

We take a look at some of the key facts and figures from Ireland’s 24-9 win over France in Pool D of Rugby World Cup 2015.

– Ireland’s 15-point winning margin was their biggest against France for 40 years since a 25-6 win in March 1975

– It is also Ireland’s biggest win over France outside Ireland

– Ireland are now unbeaten in their last five matches against France, their longest unbeaten sequence against France since winning six in-a-row from 1924 to 1928

Rob Kearney has scored a try in each of his RWC 2015 matches

– Kearney has now scored in four different RWC matches. Only Brian O’Driscoll (6) and Keith Earls (5) have scored for Ireland in more different RWC fixtures

Jonathan Sexton has now scored penalties in six different RWC matches. Only Ronan O’Gara scored penalties in more for Ireland (8)

– Scott Spedding successfully kicked two penalties in a Test match for the first time

– Spedding has now scored points against four of France’s five Six Nations opponents. Wales is the exception but he is yet to play against them

– This is the second RWC pool match in which France have failed to score a try. The first was the opening match of RWC 2007 in which they lost 17-12 to Argentina

– Nicolas Mas came on as a replacement and equalled Sylvain Marconnet’s France record of 84 caps as a prop

– Morgan Parra moved on to 51 RWC points and is the seventh France player to score a half-century of points at Rugby World Cups
