Speaking about the trip north, Ireland Women’s head coach Tom Tierney said: “Obviously going into the High Performance unit of the IRFU now, it’s part and parcel of it – getting the girls on a schedule that is year-round.
“These camps are absolutely critical, especially for the build phase that we’re in now, getting ready for the 2016 Six Nations and hopefully the ultimate goal of a (World Cup) final game up here at Kingspan Stadium in 2017.”
Team captain Niamh Briggs added: “The (Kingspan Stadium) pitch is unbelievable, the stands and the facilities are phenomenal. It’s great to be able to come up here and experience it. I hope we’ll be back here in a couple of years’ time in a World Cup final, and that’s the aim.
“Training is tough, that’s what you’d expect. We’re playing England in a few weeks’ time (at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday, November 14) and the intensity needs to be there, and I think the girls did really well today.”
