Connacht Monitor McCartney Injury

Ahead of Connacht’s GUINNESS PRO12 round 5 game away to the Ospreys on Saturday, the province’s medical team have provided the following update.

Hooker Tom McCartney suffered a gluteal strain during last week’s bonus point win over Zebre. The 30-year-old will continue to be monitored and a decision on his involvement against the Ospreys will be made later in the week.

On his return from injury, Ronan Loughney played his first game of the season for Galwegians away to Garryowen in Ulster Bank League Division 1A. The Galway-born prop played 55 minutes of the clash at Dooradoyle, and returned fit and available to Pat Lam’s coaching team.

Meanwhile, young second row Ultan Dillane played the full 80 minutes of Corinthians’ 20-12 win away to Nenagh Ormond in the Ulster Bank League and is also available for PRO12 selection this week.

Centre Conor Finn played his first game last Saturday following his recovery from an ACL injury sustained in March. The 23-year-old, however, suffered a high ankle sprain in Buccaneers’ first home defeat of the season, against St. Mary’s College. It is expected that the Galway man will be sidelined for another eight weeks.
