Old Crescent (1st) v Bruff (3rd), Rosbrien, Friday, December 4, 7.45pm

A cracking game on the cards at Rosbrien on Friday night as league leaders Old Crescent host Bruff, Both sides beat bottom of the table clubs last weekend but form and everything else can go out the window in a Munster derby.

The Limerick city side are six points clear of their visitors and should edge it at home, but will have to produce a high level of performance as Bruff have already beaten the likes of Tullamore and Wanderers.

Giving his thoughts on the mouth-watering clash with Crescent, Bruff head coach Tony Trehy said: “They’re top of the table for a reason, Eugene McGovern is doing a fine job. I know him probably better than most and he has helped turn that club around. They’re playing great rugby and picking up bonus points and this will be a typical Limerick derby.”

Boyne (8th) v Dundalk (10th), Shamrock Lodge

A healthy local rivalry should ensure that this is a keenly-fought contest at Shamrock Lodge on Saturday. Boyne lost on the road to Kanturk last Saturday and remain at the wrong end of the table.

Dundalk performed well in losing to leaders Old Crescent – a similar performance could see them upset their County Louth rivals, ahead of the return fixture next week at Mill Road.

Midleton (5th) v Kanturk (7th), Towns Park

East Cork against North Cork at Towns Park on Saturday with the home side seven points clear of their county rivals. Kanturk had a good victory over Boyne to stay ahead in the bottom half of the table – a win in round 9 would help even more.

Midleton are still right in the mix with last week’s triumph over Navan, teed up by two Aidan McCarthy tries, putting them just three points outside the top four.

Sligo (9th) v Tullamore (2nd), Hamilton Park

Knocknarea casts a long shadow over Hamilton Park in Strandhill but the relegation zone is even darker as the Sligo side struggle for points.

Tullamore marked the opening of their new dressing rooms in Spollanstown with a win over Wanderers that saw them climb to second. Centre Ivor Scully’s early intercept try set them on their way to their sixth straight victory, and there may be little solace for Sligo on Saturday.

Wanderers (4th) v Navan (6th), Aviva Stadium

Losing bonus points are scant comfort for Wanderers as their challenge at the business end of the table has been dented by two losses in their last two games. Can they get a fillip on Saturday?

Navan come calling on the back of being edged out by Midleton last time out. Six points separate the clubs going into the game, but the Dublin 4 side look set to extend that come the final whistle.
