Botha To Follow Return-To-Play Protocols

Preparations have commenced for Munster’s return European Champions Cup fixture against Leicester Tigers next Sunday, with the squad reporting for gym duties and review work today.

The Munster medical team confirmed that BJ Botha, who was replaced at half-time during the round 3 encounter at Thomond Park, sustained a concussion and the tighthead prop will follow the return-to-play protocols.

Otherwise a clean bill of health was reported following the 31-19 defeat, with Francis Saili, Conor Murray, Donnacha Ryan and try scorer Mike Sherry all showing no ill-effects after their recent knocks.

Tyler Bleyendaal, who was a late withdrawal from last Saturday’s matchday squad, will continue to be monitored for a tight quad. His participation in training will be reviewed as the week continues.

There is good news for Johnny Holland (hamstring) and Peter McCabe (pec) with both players returning to full training tomorrow, while Tommy O’Donnell (hip) will advance to modified training this week.

Duncan Casey (pec), squad captain Peter O’Mahony (knee) and Stephen Archer (neck) continue to follow their respective rehab programmes.
