For the first RBS 6 Nations round of the season, there is an international feel to the weekend as IRFU referees will be involved in a number of games at all levels.
Tonight, Andy Brace will take charge of the Under-20 Six Nations game between Scotland and England at the Broadwood Stadium and he will be assisted by Sean Gallagher and Frank Murphy.
Also this evening, New Zealander Glen Jackson will get the chance to experience club rugby in Ireland when he is the man in the middle at Castle Avenue where Clontarf play Terenure. Jackson will be one of the assistant referees for Ireland’s Six Nations opener with Wales on Sunday.
Tomorrow is a busy day for the IRFU referees, with John Lacey in charge of the second Six Nations game of 2016 – the Calcutta Cup clash between Scotland and England at Murrayfield. Fellow Irish referee George Clancy will take one of the assistant referee positions.
The Ireland Women’s side will play Wales at Donnybrook at 1pm and will have ex-international and Grand Slam winner Joy Neville running the line, along with Paul Haycock.
The Ulster Bank Junior Cup final takes place in Ashbourne between Enniscorthy and Instonians, with Helen O’Reilly taking charge, and there is also a full schedule of Ulster Bank League matches across all divisions.
