Ulster Bank League: Division 2A

There’s only a handful of games to go in the league and things are certainly interesting in Division 2A. Key game? Take your pick as the top six clash in Gibson Park, Forenaughts and New Ormond Park.

Malone (4^th) v UCC (3^rd), Gibson Park
Every game is a big one at this stage of the season but this match in Gibson Park will have a real effect on the top four placings.

Malone are two points behind UCC coming into the game with Cashel and Nenagh Ormond breathing down their neck.

UCC won 33 -21 in the Mardyke back in October in an entertaining game.

Naas (2^nd) v Cashel (5^th), Forenaughts
A shot at promotion is on the line in Naas this weekend. The home side are just three points behind Banbridge, while the visitors are just outside the top four and a playoff spot.

Cashel won by 20 – 11 earlier in the season but Naas are unbeaten in the league in 2016 – including a key win over Banbridge.

Another big one.

Nenagh Ormond (6^th) v Banbridge (1^st), New Ormond Park
Division leaders Banbridge bounced back from their loss to Naas by beating Skerries.

On Saturday they travel to a Nenagh side chasing a shot at promotion.

The Co. Tipperary club had a solid win over Corinthians in their last outing but lost the reverse of this fixture by 27 – 13 back in October.

Skerries (8^th) v Queens (7^th), Holmpatrick
It would take a strange series of results for either club to climb into the top four but Skerries in particular need to avoid slipping into the relegation zone.

The Leinster won this clash in October on a scoreline of 20 – 19 and would take a similar result this weekend.

Queens have lost their last two games and need a turnaround in fortune.

Thomond (9^th) v Corinthians (10^th), Liam Fitzgerald Park
A win here could be the difference between automatic relegation and a playoff against a side from Division 2B.

Corinthians won this encounter 19 – 12 back in October and would certainly relish a similar result this weekend.

Thomond have been marginally the better side since and will aim to reverse it.
