McSharry And Masterson To Miss Rest Of Season

Ahead of the GUINNESS PRO12 round 16 match at home to the Ospreys on Saturday night, the Connacht Rugby medical team have provided the following update.

Having sustained a number of concussions in the past 12 months, centre Dave McSharry has been reviewed by a specialist. He has been advised to undertake a period of rest from the game for the remainder of the current season.

McSharry, who has a contract with Connacht for next season, will continue to train in a non-contact capacity with the squad.

Back rower Eoghan Masterson will see a surgeon tomorrow after suffering significant injury to a number of ligaments in his knee. At this stage, the 22-year-old has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Flanker Jake Heenan sustained a hip pointer in the first half of the bonus point win over Zebre. The New Zealander will be monitored closely this week to determine his availability for this weekend.

Number 8 Eoin McKeon came away from the last game with a grade 1 ankle sprain. He will be monitored closely this week to determine his availability for Saturday.

Out-half/centre Craig Ronaldson suffered a minor knee ligament injury and will also be monitored closely this week to determine his availability for the clash with the Ospreys.

Meanwhile, versatile back Rory Parata, who has featured in 17 mathes this season, picked up an injury to his knee cap in training last week. He is currently awaiting feedback from the surgeon to determine the extent of the injury and if surgery is required. The 21-year-old is ruled out for at least the next two games.
