Women’s Final Triple Bill Set For Anglesea Road

The Women’s All-Ireland Cup, Shield and Plate titles are up for grabs on Saturday in a triple bill at the Old Belvedere grounds in Anglesea Road.

The Cup final sees Women’s All Ireland League newcomers Cooke up against 2014 cup winners Galwegians.

The two sides met in the league back in November with ‘Wegians much the stronger on a 24-7 scoreline, but Cooke have shown good cup form and knocked out former winners and league finalists, UL Bohemians, in the semis.

Galwegians edged out Blackrock in the other semi-final to book their place in the final which kicks off at 2.30pm on Saturday.

The action in Anglesea Road gets underway at midday with a replay of last season’s Cup final as Railway Union face Highfield in what promises to be a cracking game.

Railway won last year’s cup with an impressive 27-0 win and they beat Highfield in the league by 39 points, making them clear favourites for the Shield crown.

The Plate final kicks off at 1pm and sees St. Mary’s up against Munster qualifiers Thurles. The Tipperary club are the only non All-Ireland League side in the finals and will be hoping to continue the form that saw them beat City of Derry to book their spot.

Admission is 5 euro for three great games of Irish Women’s club rugby, with Under-16s free.

WOMEN’S ALL-IRELAND CUP FINALS:

Shield Final: Railway Union v Highfield, 12pm

Plate Final: St. Mary’s v Thurles, 1pm

Cup Final: Cooke v Galwegians, 2.30pm
