Speaking to the media in Leinster HQ today, the province’s backs coach Girvan Dempsey provided an update on the health of the squad after the GUINNESS PRO12 semi-final win over Ulster.
There were some injury concerns from the 30-18 victory at the RDS, although Girvan Dempsey confirmed that Leinster would be almost at full strength for next Saturday’s PRO12 final against Connacht at Murrayfield.
“We’re not too bad come this point of the season,” he said. “We’re actually pleased to have nearly a full strength squad to pick from with a few bumps and bruises after a pretty attritional game against Ulster.”
Isa Nacewa left the pitch in the second half and Dempsey confirmed that the captain had an X-ray on his arm, but supporters will be delighted to hear it came back clear.
Regarding the other players that came off with injuries, the former Ireland international explained: “Ben Te’o went off with a slight tight calf, but he’s fine. Johnny Sexton just had a little bang on his glute, he seems to be fine.”
He also confirmed that Rob Kearney would be in contention for selection for the final, adding: “Rob was back in training today, he’s out running around, so he’s back in contention.”
