PwC is delighted to announce that, following 10 years of support, they will renew their sponsorship of the IRFU for another four years. As part of the partnership, PwC continue as the official sponsors of the Ireland Under-20, Under-19 and Under-18 teams.
The sponsorship will also involve PwC supporting the IRFU Elite Player Pathway Programme which identifies and supports the development of rugby talent right across the country.
The programme puts support services in place to enhance and fast-track player development to ensure that these young athletes are ready to compete at representative level and in the professional game as well as in business life.
Speaking about the renewal of PwC’s support, Philip Orr, IRFU Junior Vice-President, said: “The IRFU is delighted to be continuing its partnership with PwC. It has been very positive for Irish Rugby to have such a strong brand associated with our up-and-coming players over the last number of years.
“It’s also very pleasing that PwC have come on board as sponsors of the Elite Player Pathway Programme and we look forward to working with them on the programme in the years to come.”
Speaking at the announcement, Feargal O’Rourke, PwC Managing Partner, said: “We are delighted to continue our support of the IRFU and Irish Rugby. This has now been in place since 2006 and makes us one of the IRFU’s longest serving partners.
“Our association with Irish Rugby is a perfect fit for our brand where qualities such as excellence, teamwork and leadership are key ingredients for success.
“Talent development and supporting our people to be the best they can be is also very much part of our business. We are therefore very excited to also be associated with the Elite Player Pathway Programme.
“It is fantastic to see former U-20 players such as Josh van der Flier and Finlay Bealham making their senior debuts this season, joining more than a dozen other players in the Irish squad this season who have come through the Ireland U-20 set-up during the period of our sponsorship.
“We wish the Ireland Under-20 team the very best of luck in the upcoming 2016 World Rugby U-20 Championship in Manchester.”
