Ireland Under-20 prop Conor Kenny suffered a shoulder injury in the opening minutes of the World Rugby Under-20 Championship match against Wales on Tuesday and has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
Naas and Leinster prop Adam Coyle, who made his Ireland Under-20 debut against Italy in this year’s U-20 Six Nations has been called up to the squad to replace the injured Conor Kenny. He arrives in Manchester today.
Meanwhile, it was certainly a day to remember for the Ireland U-20s when they came from 17 points down to record a superb 26-25 win over Grand Slam champions Wales at the Manchester City Academy Stadium.
As well as picking up four hard-earned Pool A points, Ireland’s efforts were rewarded with five players named on the World Rugby U-20 Dream Team after the opening round – two-try full-back Jacob Stockdale, front rowers Andrew Porter and Adam McBurney, lock James Ryan and number 8 and man-of-the-match Max Deegan.
