Leinster Sign Morris On Short-Term Deal

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has confirmed that former Leinster player Niall Morris has rejoined the province on a short-term contract from Leicester Tigers.

Niall Morris, a 27-year-old utility back, has already met with the rest of the Leinster squad and has taken part in the pre-season schedule.

Commenting on the move, Leo Cullen said: “Niall was unlucky with injuries in his last season in England but has performed at a very high level for the Tigers in both the Premiership and in the Champions Cup.

“He brings good experience to our back-three, an area that is already very competitive and we look forward to seeing Niall in action on a pitch soon.”

Morris played 75 times for Leicester, scoring 18 tries in his five seasons.The former Blackrock College student joined the Premiership side from Leinster in 2011 having played on eight occasions for his home province, scoring three tries in four starts in the Celtic League.

He won a Premiership medal with Leicester in 2012/13, scoring a try in the final against Northampton at Twickenham, and has also played for the Emerging Ireland team on three occasions and has six caps and two tries for the Ireland Under-20s.

Speaking to leinsterrugby.ie, Morris said: “After five enjoyable years in England, I am delighted to return to my home province, Leinster.

“I know the club well and it has fantastic players, staff and supporters. It is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I am very much looking forward to being part of such a great set-up, again.”
