Last Chance to Book. The line-up of speakers for the 2016 IRFU Certified Conditioning Coach Course has been confirmed and it promises to be the most informative and practical course yet.
The list of speakers includes top names from the IRFU and the world of strength and conditioning giving attendees access to a wealth of knowledge and information.
Newly-appointed Head of Athletic Performance and Science with the IRFU, Nick Winkelman, will deliver a module on Speed
Nick is an internationally recognised speaker on topics pertaining to skill acquisition, coaching science, movement skill development, and athletic profiling.
Ian Jeffreys, Professor of Strength and Conditioning at the University of South Wales, will deliver a module on ‘Gamespeed for Rugby’. Ian is an acknowledged worldwide leader in the field of sport specific speed and agility development.
Martin Kennedy, IRFU National Talent Strength and Conditioning Coach, will deliver a module on Conditioning.
Martin has worked with developmental, senior and elite level athletes in a variety of different sports including Rugby, Gaelic Football, Hurling, Netball, Athletics, Golf, Australian Rules Football and Basketball. He was Head of Athletic Performace for Dublin GAA from 2011 to 2015.
Eamonn Flanagan will deliver ‘Strength Training for Rugby’, and a number of other modules. Eamonn is the lead Strength & Conditioning Consultant with the Irish Institute of Sport.
Cathal Byrd, who will be an assisting tutor on the ‘Strength Training’ module, is a highly experienced competitive weightlifter and active strength and conditioning coach. Cathal has worked extensively as a strength and conditioning coach within the Munster Senior Cup rugby schools system and within the Ulster Bank League, as well as with athletes from athletics, football, GAA, martial arts and powerlifting.
Course Director Kevin Cradock has a wealth of experience as a strength and conditioning coach and educator at all levels of the game of rugby. Kevin was the head of fitness at Connacht Rugby for three years and has also worked as a senior S&C coach at Connacht and an Academy S and C coach at Leinster.
Kevin will deliver ‘Demands of the Game’ and other modules on the CCC programme.
The course is a practical hands-on course where coaches have the opportunity to learn and practice the many drills and exercises that are appropriate for conditioning rugby players at all levels.
