Cadbury Boost Touch Rugby Kicks Off
Teams are all set for the 2016 Cadbury Boost Touch season which kicks off next week at Belfast Harlequins RFC.
The first night of action entails grading games for all teams, interlaced with induction sessions instructed with expertise courtesy of players and coaches from the Ireland Touch Association (ITA).
Touch rugby is a game where players touch part of the ball carrier, the ball carrier’s clothing or the ball itself, instead of tackling in the more physical sense of the word. Therefore it is a minimum contact version of rugby, as opposed to tag rugby which is a non-contact form of the sport.
While places for Belfast are now full, teams or individual players can still register for NUI Galway or Donnybrook Stadium now at www.irishrugby.ie/touch.
Mark Connolly, IRFU’s Rugby Participation and Growth Manager, said: “The IRFU are very much looking for this, our second season of Cadbury Boost Touch.
“The game is a fun, fast and skillful form of social rugby that gives the opportunity for participants to experience a non-contact form of rugby, while still enjoying the health and fitness benefits of regular exercise.
Along with our tag rugby programme, we now have social forms of rugby to suit all ability and fitness levels from the complete beginner to the keen competitor.“
