Connacht were the first of the Irish provinces in pre-season action last night, as the reigning GUINNESS PRO12 champions scored three tries in a 21-19 defeat to Montpellier. Check out our photo gallery from Saint-Affrique.

It was an impressive display from Pat Lam’s men in their first run out of the campaign. With the integration of the summer signings and Academy players, 32 members of the squad were given a run-out.

Tries were scored by new full-back Cian Kelleher and Academy winger Cormac Brennan, each making their first appearances for Connacht. The fit-again Nepia Fox-Matamua also touched down on his return from a long-term knee injury. Out-halves Jack Carty and Shane O’Leary kicked a conversion each.

Lam’s side kick off the 2016/17 season with a home game against Glasgow Warriors on Saturday, September 3 (kick-off 5.15pm).
