Aviva Stadium Mini Rugby Draw Winners Announced
The IRFU have announced the winning teams drawn for the Aviva Mini Rugby Festival which will take place on Saturday, May 20 at the Aviva Stadium.
Twenty clubs were drawn from the participants in each of the four provincial legs of the 2016/17 Aviva Mini Festivals held last October.
On four separate days in October, over 2,000 boys and girls took part in the provincials which were hosted by Ballyclare, Ballina, Co. Carlow and UL Bohemians.
Fifteen Under-10 teams and five Under-12 girls teams will now be getting set to prepare for their big day at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, May 20.
Aviva Mini Festivals provide the chance for teams to experience playing teams from the rest of Ireland in a festival atmosphere. The season culminates on a day where players can follow the footsteps of their rugby heroes and play at the home of Irish Rugby.
Mini rugby is Ireland’s largest participation section of rugby union so a positive experience of the game for these age-groups is important and will hopefully result in a long association with the sport for every player, coach, referee and parent involved. Teams who did not make the list for the Aviva Stadium will be entered into the Aviva Mini Rugby wildcard draw. The winning club in this draw, which takes place at the stadium event, will see the Aviva Mini Rugby Roadshow turn up and run a mini rugby blitz for them at an agreed date in September or early October. Dates and host clubs for next season’s Aviva Mini Rugby Festivals will be announced early September. AVIVA MINI FESTIVAL – Aviva Stadium, Saturday, May 20 Under-10s |
