The Ireland Men’s Sevens squad will compete in the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series this summer. We spoke to IRFU Director of Sevens Anthony Eddy and Buccaneers flyer Jordan Conroy about the summer schedule and how the players are developing.
Irish Rugby TV caught up with the Ireland Men’s Sevens squad in Donnybrook recently as they took part in a training camp with the Wales Sevens squad. An extended training squad was announced last week as the preparations get underway for a busy summer schedule.
Outlining the Men’s Sevens schedule, Anthony Eddy said: “It’s an extremely important summer for us because we have an opportunity to qualify for the 2018 Sevens World Cup and also a chance to qualify for the repechage tournament for the World Series.”
Ireland squad member Jordan Conroy has been scoring tries for fun this season with Buccaneers, his terrific tally of 18 tries helping them gain promotion to Ulster Bank League Division 1A.
The former Tullamore player feels that his time with the Ireland Sevens side has really helped his game. He was also named the Connacht Senior Club Player of the Year at the province’s recent Awards night.
