Irish Rugby TV: #Ireland2023 ‘Bid Kid’ Winner

11-year-old Alex Place will be the Ireland 2023 ‘Bid Kid’. He will be part of the official delegation to submit Ireland’s bid to host the Rugby World Cup when it is handed in on Thursday. Here’s the moment he heard the news from Ulster and Ireland star Andrew Trimble.

‘Bid Kid’ Alex Place will be joined  by over 100 children from a variety of schools and rugby clubs, carrying flags representing the rugby playing nations of the world, Dick Spring, Chairman of the Rugby World Cup 2023 Bid Oversight Board, and Bid Ambassador Brian O’Driscoll.

They will also be accompanied by representatives of all Irish Rugby teams and a children’s choir on an open top bus as Ireland’s submission for Rugby World Cup 2023 makes it way from the Aviva Stadium – the world’s oldest international rugby ground – to World Rugby’s headquarters in Pembroke Street on bid submission day – Thursday, June 1.
