Excitement is building in Ireland ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. Due to unprecedented demand, extra tickets have been added for the UCD Bowl. Meanwhile, the WRWC 2017 Trophy Tour continues to involve schools, clubs and communities in the lead up to the tournament.
In recent weeks, the WRWC 2017 Trophy Tour has taken in events in all over Ireland from Dunboyne to Dingle and all points in between.
In late May the trophy paid a visit to Government Buildings in Dublin where it was feted by members of both houses.
Earlier this month, Ireland Women’s team sponsors and tournament partners Aon Ireland hosted an event in their Dublin offices. They were joined by Ireland centre Jenny Murphy who met the staff on the day. She’s in strict training though so she could not enjoy the cupcakes (or so she said)!
The Ireland Women’s squad are wonderful ambassadors for the game and they have been out in force visting clubs and schools over the past few weeks.
Captain Niamh Briggs got a great welcome from the local schools on a visit to Railway Union. She was accompanied by Ailsa Hughes and Sevens sisters Kim and Stacey Flood.
Leah Lyons was delighted to bring the trophy to Cork earlier this month – and of course a few of her team-mates came along to meet the fans.
