Connacht Boosted By Dillane’s Presence For South Africa Trip

A squad of 25 players travelled to Treviso for Connacht’s hard-fought win over Benetton Rugby last Saturday. All 25 travelled on to South Africa to the province’s training base in Bloemfontein, including Ultan Dillane who has been released from the Ireland camp for the GUINNESS PRO14 clash with the Toyota Cheetahs this coming Saturday.

Denis Buckley (ankle), Jarrad Butler (hand), Tiernan O’Halloran (hamstring) and Niyi Adeolokun (hamstring) all played in the 22-19 victory away to Benetton Rugby after returning from injury and have had no ill-effects from the game.

Back rower Eoin McKeon and centre Peter Robb will integrate into team training this week back in Galway as they near a return from their respective calf and hamstring injuries.

Meanwhile, Conor Carey, who injured his shoulder in the recent home defeat to Zebre, will be out of action until the end of March, and fellow prop JP Cooney is ruled out until April as he continues his recovery from hamstring surgery.

Pat O’Toole is continuing his rehabilitation for his hamstring injury, Andrew Browne will be sidelined until the end of March after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Ospreys recently, while Jake Heenan is continuing his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and will be out of action until April.
