Last year, to celebrate the Women’s Rugby World Cup being held in Ireland, the IRFU hosted a National Mini Rugby Festival for girls. This weekend the festival returns to Carton House as part of the Aviva Minis Festival calendar.
This coming Sunday, up to 16 clubs from all four provinces will travel to Carton House for what promises to be another fantastic day in the #AvivaMinis Festival calendar.
Every player will receive a certificate of participation – signed by Ireland Women’s stars Niamh Briggs and Ailsa Hughes – and a medal to mark the day.

Speaking about the festival on Sunday, Nora Stapleton, IRFU Women’s and Girls Development Manager, said: “Last year’s festival was such a highlight of the season – the teams, the trophy, the excitement – that we felt we had to add it to the calendar of events.
“We’d like to thank Carton House for hosting the festival again this year – they have great facilities. Some of these teams have already taken part in the Aviiva Minis provincial festivals, but to have this day for all the girls is very special and we’re really looking forward to another great festival.”
Last weekend the Aviva Minis festivals visited Tullamore RFC (Saturday) and UL Bohemians RFC (Sunday) as over 800 boys and girls enjoyed the action on the pitch and got a chance to meet Ireland internationals Chris Farrell, Niamh Briggs and Alisa Hughes.
The #AvivaMinis National Festival, which includes five girls teams, will take place at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, May 19, with teams drawn at random from all those who took part in the four provincial festivals held in Galway Corinthians RFC, City Of Armagh RFC, Tullamore RFC and UL Bohemians RFC.
