Malahide Winger McAllister Wins #UBLTry Of The Month For March
Malahide’s prolific winger Marcus McAllister, who has scored 12 Ulster Bank League tries this season, is the winner of the #UBLTry of the Month award for March. His score against Tullamore was selected from the shortlist by Ireland skills and kicking coach Richie Murphy.
Former professional players Mike Ross and Danie Poolman were both involved in the build-up, with the latter shrugging off three defenders on a superb run towards the right corner where he linked with Marcus McAllister who cut in off his wing to provide the finishing touches.
McAllister’s impressive try-scoring form has helped Malahide, who won the All-Ireland Provincial League Championship twelve months ago, finish fourth in Division 2C and set up a shot at Belfast Harlequins in Saturday’s Division 2B promotion/relegation play-off semi-final at Deramore Park (kick-off 2.30pm).
Having beat off stiff competition from his fellow March nominees from Naas, Skerries and Lansdowne, Marcus picks up a cheque for 250 euro and is shortlisted for the #UBLTry of the Year award at the end of the season.
There have been six other monthly winners to date with the #UBLTry of the Month award proving hugely popular with clubs and supporters. The monthly try videos have had over 250,000 views across the IRFU social media platforms.
