Ireland Down Under: Simon Easterby On The Last Week Of Tour

Ireland forwards coach Simon Easterby gives an update on the squad, runs the rule over the second Test win in Melbourne, and looks forward to the series decider in Sydney this Saturday.

Speaking about last weekend’s bruising encounter with Australia, Simon Easterby said: “We had a couple of guys who were managed in training today but, on the whole, they’ve recovered really well. The medical staff and the conditioning staff have done a great job in getting them right.”

Looking forward to the tour finale in Sydney, the Ireland forwards coach added: “I think there will be some changes (for the third Test), whether that is the starting XV or the bench. There’s always going to be opportunities throughout a three-Test series, not only through injuries but also through our need to get some exposure for players on a tour like this.

“We’re not that far out from a World Cup (next year) and this has been a great opportunity for us to get to know players that we may not be that familiar with.”
