Mulhall

It’s bittersweet but overall I think we had a really good weekend. I’m happy with how we performed, the last game probably left us wanting more and we definitely could have come away with a win. But at the same time, we put some good performances together and worked really hard for each other.

tournament format –

it’s tough. you just have to be really up for that very first game. it’s harsh, I suppose, because that’s sport. we came out on the right side of it. it was credit to us because there’s so much at stake in that one game. being able to put that aside and actually perform was really pleasing for us.

spain last-minute try –

it was tough to take. in the first half when you leave too many points behind, then you kinda have that fear that you’re going to regret that come the end of the game and that’s just what happened. they had the ball the whole second half so i think it was a really brave and gutsy performance to keep them out for the full seven minutes.

but at the end when the try went in, i think it was just one of those games that no matter who one, the opposition that lost was going to feel hard done by or feel like they could have won that game because it was so tight.

world cup experience –

It was incredible. It’s definitely given us so much motivation to burst on and become a top four team. It was a really well run tournament, it was so nice having the boys out here as well, and we just hope that we did Irish Sevens proud.

The support was class, it was definitely like home advantage. Irish people more than any just travel so well to support everyone. every time you went out on the field you could hear so many roars for us. standing in the tunnel next to the other team, i don’t know how that felt for them, but it was unreal and such a good experience for us.
