The IRFU are pleased to announce that Ross O’Donoghue has joined the Irish Rugby family in the role of Rugby Development Campaigns Officer. Ross, who has worked for a number of governing bodies and media organisations, will work exclusively on the promotion and communication of the domestic game and grassroots initiatives.
This is the first time that the IRFU has had a dedicated, full-time, resource working exclusively on domestic game content and the role will further develop the ever-increasing digital content that the IRFU has created in relation to the domestic game in recent years.
Ross O’Donoghue will work closely with the IRFU rugby department, provincial rugby communications teams, and directly with clubs and schools to develop and promote the great stories that occur across the domestic game each season.
We encourage clubs and schools who have a great story to tell to email Ross to help build the domestic game content calendar for the season. This will help promote local initiatives across some of the largest digital communications platforms in Ireland.
Welcoming Ross to the Irish Rugby family, Stephen McNamara, IRFU Director of Communications, said: “I am delighted to have Ross join our dedicated and hard-working team. Each year we aim to improve our digital offering, and each year our digital footprint and engagement levels have grown.
“The professional side of the game is now very well covered and we want to take the next steps to grow our domestic game content and storytelling. Ross will be out and about throughout the year to gather stories and cover the various league and cup competitions as they develop.
“The grassroots game is the foundation of Irish Rugby and we hope that those with a story to tell contact Ross to help develop a great season of content that can further boost the promotion of the grassroots game, and all those that dedicate time and passion to it.”
