Ireland U-18 Women’s Sevens Squad Named For Home Nations Tournament

Twelve players have been named in the Ireland Under 18 Women’s Sevens squad to compete at the U-18 Women’s Home Nations Sevens tournament this weekend in Swansea.

Coached by Ben Martin and Women’s Sevens international Katie Fitzhenry, they will play against Wales, Scotland and England. This is the tournament’s second year, with Ireland coming out on top last summer when Connacht duo Beibhinn Parsons and Grace Browne Moran both competed.

This is the second competition for the Ireland U-18 Women’s Sevens squad this season and forms part of the Women’s Sevens Development pathway for this group.

They competed in the Paris World Games last month where they finished as runners-up. Ivana Kiripati, Amanda McQuade, Marlise Flynn and Chisom Ugwueru will make their first appearances.

This weekend forms part of the Ireland team’s preparations for the Rugby Europe U-18 Women’s Sevens Championship in Jarocin, Poland which takes place August 31 and September 1. They have been drawn in Pool C with Scotland, Latvia and Georgia.
