Clubs Raise Over €600,000 As 2019 ‘Your Club Your Country’ Winners Are Drawn

The IRFU ‘Your Club, Your Country’ initiative, in association with Energia, has helped clubs to raise €640,560 through this year’s draw bring the total raised via the initiative to over €5.7 million raised by clubs for clubs since the draw began in 2011.

The IRFU, in conjunction, with its partners supply the prizes for the draw, ensuring clubs reap the maximum benefit and can raise up to €10,000 from the fundraising scheme.

The IRFU ‘Your Club, Your Country” Grand Draw took place this morning in Aviva Stadium officiated by IRFU Senior Vice President Des Kavanagh, and Energia Managing Director Customer Solutions Gary Ryan with independent auditor Aidan Connaughton of Grant Thornton.

The first prize ticket – a trip to Australia in 2020 to follow the Ireland team – was sold by Loughrea RFC. The ten winning tickets came from ten different clubs – Loughrea, Portlaoise, Scariff, Shannon, NUIG, Dolphin, Connemara, Virginia, Longford and Malahide. A separate draw operates for clubs in Northern Ireland.

IRFU Senior Vice President Des Kavanagh, commented,

“Clubs across the country have again maximised the fundraising power of the IRFU ‘Your Club Your Country’ initiative. With over €5.7 million raised by clubs for clubs through the draw since 2011 the success of the initiative continues to bring value to clubs as they invest in the services that they deliver to their members and wider communities.”
