Six Nations Confirm Postponement Of Women’s Game Against France

IRFU Director of Women’s Rugby, Anthony Eddy, today wished a speedy recovery to members of the French Women’s management team and players after Six Nations Rugby confirmed that they are unable to travel to Ireland due to Covid-19 issues.

Originally scheduled to take place in France, the French team, in an act of rugby solidarity, had agreed to travel to Dublin for Sunday’s final round fixture as the Ireland Women’s team would have been subject to 14 days of restricted movement, which would have impacted the work commitments of a core group of players, had they returned from France after the match.

The IRFU are working with Six Nations in relation to the fixture and await a decision on if it will be rescheduled.

Speaking today, Eddy said: “I wish the French team a speedy recovery and thank them once again, for their kind offer to come to Ireland to complete the scheduled fixture.

“We have a great working relationship with the French teams, and I know they will recover from this setback and be more competitive than ever.

“As a squad, we will now regroup and refocus our training schedules as we continue to prepare for the Women’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers in December.”
