The Ireland Men’s Sevens squad, sponsored by TritonLake, has been named for the opening leg of the Rugby Europe Sevens Trophy Series in Zagreb this weekend.
Coming off the back of last month’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series double header in Toulouse and London, head coach James Topping has selected a 13-player squad for the Zagreb 7s, as Ireland build towards July’s Rugby World Cup Sevens European qualifier.
Eight players who featured at the HSBC London Sevens in Twickenham are involved this weekend, with Ireland paired in Pool A with Romania, Latvia and Denmark.
The tournament at Stadion NŠC Stjepan Spajić is the first of two Rugby Europe legs. Budapest will stage the second tournament on June 18-19.
Billy Dardis will captain the side, which includes the likes of Jordan Conroy, Harry McNulty and Bryan Mollen.
Topping has been afforded the opportunity to rotate his resources with several players coming in to stake their claim for selection for a busy summer ahead.
Ireland open their campaign against Denmark on Saturday morning (kick-off 9.30am Irish time), before further Pool A outings against Latvia (12.30pm) and Romania (3.30pm).
All matches will be live on Rugby Europe TV here.
