O’Brien Continues At Scoring Summit, While Railway Backs Run Amok

Old Belvedere’s teenage out-half Dannah O’Brien has stretched her lead as the top points scorer in the Energia All-Ireland League Women’s Division.

Heading into the final three rounds of the regular AIL season, the 19-year-old is sitting on 62 points after doing all the scoring for Belvedere in their 19-10 derby defeat to Blackrock College.

Climbing up the ranks were Méabh Deely, the scorer of Blackrock’s match-winning try at Ollie Campbell Park, and Railway Union flyer Aoife Doyle who bagged a brace of tries at Galwegians. They are on 29 and 30 points respectively.

Doyle has moved onto six tries for the campaign, one ahead of Railway scrum half Ailsa Hughes who ran in a hat-trick in their 57-7 victory in Glenina.

Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe (10 tries) and Beibhinn Parsons (7) remain out in front as the league’s top try scorers. Railway prop Lindsay Peat leads the way for the forwards with six tries.
