Roberts On The Rise As Wicklow Reach Top Four
The top two scorers in the Energia All-Ireland League Women’s Division, Dannah O’Brien and Nicole Fowley, nudged their points tallies along last weekend, while Railway Union flanker Carmen Rodera now has six tries to her name.
Old Belvedere out-half O’Brien, who is at the summit with 68 points, is close to averaging 10 points per round. The leading scorer from the round 7 fixtures was Wicklow number 10 Beth Roberts with 11 points.
There was a brace of tries each from Blackrock College’s Maeve Óg O’Leary and Ella Durkan, and also Clodagh O’Halloran and teenage winner Clara Barrett who helped UL Bohemians to a runaway win over Suttonians.
Spanish flanker Rodera scored one and narrowly missed out on a second try during Railway’s gritty victory over Old Belvedere. Her club-mate, Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe, remains the league’s leading try scorer with 10.
