Connacht Reveal Celebratory European Kit For 2022/23 Season

Connacht Rugby, in partnership with BLK Sport, have revealed their new European kit for the 2022/23 season.

In the 1997/98 season, Connacht made history when they defeated Bordeaux-Bègles away from home. The victory meant Connacht were the first Irish province to win away from home against French and English clubs in professional European competition.

The design of this year’s European kit is a celebration of that moment, with a matching design and colours compared to the jerseys of that era, but with the innovative technologies and fit of the modern era.

The jersey is made with BLK’s Tricool Exotek fabric throughout the main body. It also features a lycra collar, BLK’s unique silicon gel logo application, and slick taping details around the collar which reads, ‘Engineered for Performance, Crafted for Sport, Issued to the Athlete’.

Tricool Exotek fabric was created exclusively for BLK to enhance athlete performance, whilst at the same time allowing for maximum player manoeuverability.

Commenting on the new home kit, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Connacht Rugby, Philip Patterson, said: “Twenty five years ago Connacht Rugby were still mid-transition into the professional era, and many of our team were not full-time players.

“Despite this, Connacht did something special when they travelled to France and came away with a victory, becoming the first Irish province to do so in modern history.

“Our European kit is not only a reflection of that momentous achievement, but a celebration of the years of ambition and belief that has transformed the club into what it is today.”

Philip Staunton, Head Buyer Team Sports at Intersport Elverys, added: “The victories over Northampton and Bordeaux-Bègles were the first significant European achievements of the professional era for Connacht Rugby and the beginning point for many supporters adventures across Europe.

“The design will invoke great memories and inspire new ones as the team prepare for this year’s Challenge Cup.

“It’s been a pleasure to bring this story to life with Connacht Rugby, and Intersport Elverys looks forward to being a part of the newest chapter of adventures in Newcastle and Brive this season.”

Connacht’s 2022/23 European Kit is exclusively available in-store and online at Elverys.ie from 9am today.
