Whelan Joins Ireland Squad In Vancouver

Head Coach Scott Bemand has called Katie Whelan up to the Ireland squad ahead of Friday’s final WXV1 clash against USA at BC Place (Kick-off 12.30pm local time/8.30pm Irish time).

Whelan, who was part of Ireland’s extended training squad last month, linked up with the group in Vancouver on Sunday night as injury cover for Katie Heffernan.

Heffernan suffered an arm injury in training and will return home to Dublin on Tuesday morning.

Ireland face USA in their third and final WXV1 outing on Friday, with Bemand set to name his Match Day Squad, sponsored by Aon, on Wednesday at 8.30pm Irish time.

Friday’s match is live on RugbyPass TV.
